Surf Sports showcase the skills and physical abilities required to save a life. Disciplines vary from the famous Iron Man events to theory based First Aid events.

Mooloolaba has a proud history in competition. Our members have won countless Branch, State & Aussie Titles. Each year our competitors compete at local, State, National and International events. Getting involved in competition is fun and keeps you fit.
TRAIN AND
COMPETE
You can train and compete in a range of areas and age groups from Juniors and Open to Masters levels including the following disciplines:
- BEACH EVENTS – sprint / relay / beach run / beach flags
- CRAFT EVENTS – board race / board relay / board rescue / single ski / double ski / ski relay / surf race / surf teams
- IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) EVENTS – IRB Rescue / Team Rescue / Mass Rescue / Tube Rescue / Relay
- LIFESAVING EVENTS – Rescue Tube Race / Rescue Tube Rescue / First Aid / Champion Lifesaver / Champion Patrol / Rescue & Resuscitation (R&R)
- MULTI-DISCIPLINE EVENTS – Iron Man & Iron Woman / Taplin relay / Lifesaver relay
- POOL RESCUE –Obstacle swim / Obstacle relay / Line throw / Freestyle with fins / Patient Tow / Manikin Tow / Rescue medley / Manikin carry / Brick carry / Manikin relay / Medley relay / Super Lifesaver

Competitions are conducted by SLSA across a wide range of ages commencing from under eight years to seventy years and over, and may include competitions with single or multiple areas involving pool, ocean, lifesaving, boat, craft, swimming, and beach events or multiple discipline events.


ELIGIBILITY
- Be a registered and current financial member of Mooloolaba SLSC.
- Have a minimum qualification of either a Surf Rescue Certificate (Juniors) or a Bronze Medallion and be proficient in that award.
- Meet the patrol hour requirements according to your membership category to compete. This means that Active members must have completed a minimum of 25 hours of patrols in the preceding calendar year, while Active Reserve members must have complete 12 hours.
- Have met any other competition eligibility qualification requirements for specific events e.g. IRB, Surf Boat (sweep), Patrol Competition, First Aid.
